              He, opened the door

On the day of May 12th, 2008, God has opened a door for the Christians in China. This open door is like the promises God has made in Revelation 3:8 ”I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut”.
 
The land was shaken on this day. Men’s hearts were awakened after being soaked in materialism, selfishness and greed. In a blink of an eye, one million volunteers ran into the disaster area and the loving actions are fired up. This year is called the Year Zero of Volunteers, which is also the Initial Year of the Action of Love of the Chinese Christians.
 
This time, the Chinese churches are not absent. The children of God responded firmly and said ” Here am I. Send me!". They never had any experiences on relief work, charity organization or any large scale social work, never. They have nothing, but they did step out their most precious initial step; just like Abraham who stepped out of Haran and walked his way to Canaan. Because there are so many ‘never’s, the Chinese Christians and Churches began to realize that this journey of faith can only be kept going by relying on God and that this will be a journey with God’s promises and blessings.
 
Can do nothing! Have nothing! Faith only and love only!
 
One morning the finance coworker told me that we have only 180 dollars in the account. I reply: “Let’s pray, we can do nothing but prayer.” A year has passed, we often feel that we have nothing, yet we still have everything. God gives us what we need, no more and no less, just as He has promised: “My grace is sufficient for you”.
                                                                                                  
The unity that the Chinese Churches are hoping for has been tried and realized in this relief action. One hundred churches and one thousand people are doing the same thing in one heart, which surely is not an easy job. When I visited the States, the principal of a Christian University said:” Although we are a Christian country, we can’t unite so many churches in such a short time. The Chinese churches did a marvelous job.” We understand if God were not among us, it’s impossible for us to unite churches from different denominations, different traditions, different regions and different cultural backgrounds. We deeply believe that unity pleases God.
 
During the Cultural Revolution, Jiang-qing said to the Western journalists: “In China, you can only find Christians in the museums!” But during the past few decades, the number of Chinese Christians is growing a hundred times while they had no missionaries, no pastors, no church buildings, not even Bibles. In this earthquake, only the signs of the Christian relief organizations went into museums. Because we know that this was a God-given chance, we can’t just be “talking Christians”; we need to be “acting Christians” to pass and share the love which we have received from God. The Chinese Christians should walk into the world, penetrate into it and make it renewed and changed.
 
And who knows but that we have come to be the children of God for such a time as this? Isn’t this the day when the Chinese Churches hope to become “the City on the Mountain”? Maybe we are not strong enough, not wise enough, not powerful enough and not having enough resources, but we have a willing heart. As we make our sacrifice to God, He will accept it with pleasure; power, wisdom, counsel and anointing will then be poured down to us.
 
I truly believe that living in a box is not the will of God. Pray that we can all break the strongholds in our hearts, breaking the walls in our thoughts that are blocking us to enlarge the place of our tent, stretch our tent curtains wide, and not hold back. Do not fear disgrace for we will not be humiliated.
