From Despair to Hope ~ The Story of Rong-Rong
Rong-Rong, 11 years old, was born with a congenital lack of a major tendon in her right leg. She was forced to use her left leg to walk. As she was walking, due to the pressure on her left leg, the rubbing on her heel caused blistering. The blister broke, was infected, and began discharging pus. Rong-Rong was also unable to control her excretory functions. Often by the time she felt like going to the bathroom, she was already covered in urine and feces. Her mother, plagued by asthma, could not let herself get too tired, and had to let Rong-Rong carry the smell on her body wherever she went. Her school stopped letting her come to class due to the smell being too strong. When our ministry team workers saw the need of Rong-Rong and her family, they began making house visits to help clean and sanitize the home, take Rong-Rong to the doctor, and have her wound cleaned. The team also donated a wheelchair for her to use so that she would not have to walk on her healing foot. Now, our ministers bring Rong-Rong to our ministry center to learn to write and play games. She often sings “Sun Above the Clouds” as she engages in her favorite activity: drawing. Sometimes, if our ministers do not come pick her up, she will even pout at her mother. Rong-Rong is smiling more than before. She is really happy now. This October, a doctor from Cheng-Du has volunteered to meet with Rong-Rong to help give her control of her excretory functions. This little life was once distressed and without hope. But, because of the active love of our ministry workers, blessings and hope have come to Rong-Rong and her family.
